Please read through these before purchasing.
Basically there are 3 files that make TypeNav work, "swfobject".js" which embeds the SWf, "typenav.swf" which is the actual menu, and "typenav.xml" which contains your links and customization settings.
You can add as many links as you want, set the spacing, text color, roll over color, text selected color, background selected color, selected style, divider style, divider color, roll over blur amount, the X position in the SWF, the Y position in the SWF, the open link in new window text and the copy link to clipboard text.
The best thing to do is download one of the free versions above, open up "typenav.xml" and start playing with the settings.
Yes. You can set the background to transparent so it can work on any kind of background.
No. All fonts are embedded in the SWF so you don't need to own them.
No. Everything is set through an external XML file so you don't even need to open Flash.
Yes. This site uses PHP and I setup TypeNav in a nav include with no problem. Also check out my blog as well as this site which both use TypeNav with WordPress.
You are missing something. :-) The whole point of TypeNav is the typography. You get rich typography with no need to create custom buttons and rollovers and dividers in Photoshop.
Yes. TypeNav uses SWFObject to embed the Flash. With SWFObject you just write your nav in HTML and put it in a div, then if the user has the Flash plugin installed that div gets replaced with the Flash.
Every Font Option comes with the same options for divider styles, selected states and everything else. The only difference is the font. I just have them set differently in the previews to show what is possible.
Please note that the Font Options that are set in uppercase letters can only be set in uppercase. A careful amount of letterspacing is set to the uppercase to make them look typographically as nice as possible. Having that letterspacing applied to the text set in lowercase wouldn't look right.
Yes. Hopefully it's not too big of a deal but it really helps to get the word out about my site. Anyone who has started a new site knows how extremely hard it is making people aware that your site is out there.
No. Unlike my other products, TypeNav doesn't come with any of the Flash source files. They aren't necessary at all to work with the file and since most users won't have the needed fonts installed on their machines it would just cause problems when republishing the FLA.
